This is the first male sterile oriental hybrid released by ProfiGen. POH6002 was selected from an oriental Basma tobacco type and has resistance to black shank race 0. The hybrid has a big root system, round stalk and erect growing habit. In normal growing conditions, it reaches 1 to 1,25m of height, with an average of 27 usable leaves. The flowering occurs with about 55 days after transplanting.

The POH6002 adapts well on the gently sloping fields of the hilly areas with soils of medium to low fertility. The harvesting is done leaf by leaf, from 4 to 8 times, just picking the ripe leaves on each harvest.

The yield potential of this hybrid is around 1.200Kg per hectare.

The cultivar produces high quality leaves to meet the demands of the market for oriental tobaccos.
